Toronto: Mere Saajan Sun Sun won the People’s Choice Award for the Best Folk Fusion song. In March 2012, Shweta Subram in collaboration with Shankar Tucker, Mere Saajan Sun Sun, was released via YouTube. The beautifully composed track was accomapnied by equally beautiful lyrics written by Neelam Chandra Saxena. Mere Saajan Sun Sun has received widespread appreciation from the world over and has crossed 322,000 views on YouTube. Just recently only, the song received a great honour by listeners of independent music.
Independent music was recently in the spotlight at the first ever Radiocity Freedom Awards (RCFA). The glittering ceremony was held at the Shangri-La Hotel in Mumbai, India. Nominations were invited across eight genres, and a whopping 700 entries were received. The award winners took home RCFA’s wing-shaped trophy, symbolizing the soaring of Independent music.
The award was collected by Neelam on 30th May, 2013 in Mumbai, India, as neither Shankar nor Shweta were able to make it to Mumbai due to their hectic schedules and commitments in the United States and Canada.
